Controlling access to disks and CD-ROM discs

You can control access to a shared disk or CD-ROM disc by unmounting it (temporarily removing it from the desktop).

To make a shared disk or CD-ROM disc temporarily unavailable:
1 Open Mac OS Server Admin and log on to the server you want to administer.
2 Press the Privileges button and choose Show Disks & Shared Items.
3 Select the hard disk or CD-ROM disc that you want to unmount.
You cannot unmount a computer's startup disk.
    4 Click Unmount.
Any users that were connected to the disc are immediately disconnected.

To make a shared hard disk available again:
Restart your computer or use a utility such as Drive Setup (included on your system software CD or utilities floppy disk) to remount the disk.

To make a CD-ROM disc available again:
Insert it in the CD-ROM drive.
